How the Product Manifesto was created

Manifesto Phase one

Discovery

We began with the hypothesis that Product Managers today need an up-to-date, unifying set of principles, and started conducting research into this idea.

Product Manifesto Phase Two

Community

At a very early stage, we opened the door to the wider product community so PMs of diverse backgrounds could contribute their ideas and suggestions.

Product Manifesto Phase Three

Working

Members of the working group were decided. Working as PMs, they set about defining the main challenges faced by Product People today.

Product Manifesto Phase Four

Production

After the problems are defined, it’s time to start thinking about the solution. Actionable advice was distilled covering the entire product creation process.

Product Manifesto Phase Five

Feedback

An earlier version of the Product Manifesto was soft-launched to this community, with feedback gathered through a survey.

Product Manifesto Phase Six

Launch

The Product Manifesto is now ready for the world, and we commit to uphold its principles.
